Valentine’s Day Hate
Ah Valentine’s Day. The time when all the single people come out of the woodwork to talk about how pointless the holiday is. How you should “love” your partner every day of the year, not just on Feb 14th.
Here’s the deal. V-Day isn’t a day when you love the person you’re with more. It’s just one day set aside to appreciate them. There’s only one Thanksgiving, but I’m thankful for everything I have every day. There’s only one Black History Month, but I’m tolerant of black people every day of the year. I only get one birthday, but I don’t expect anyone to appreciate me any more on that day. There’s only one Mother’s and Father’s day, but it’s not the day I love them the most out of the year.
I know it’s cool to be emo and angsty on the internet, but really people - get over yourselves. If you’re single on V-Day, go out with your good single buddies and have a nice dinner. Have a friend over and watch sappy romantic comedies. Make yourself some cupcakes and enjoy every last one of them. Valentine’s Day is a pretty inoffensive holiday.
