Sigh of relaxation.
Well, the grand move is over. Things didn’t go nearly as smooth as we hoped. First, the movers were late. Then, they were pretty shady and unprofessional when they showed up. Even though it was confirmed twice with the company that they had to have runners down on the floor of the place we moved to - they still didn’t have runners (which made US look bad). They broke a couple boxes and broke our soy sauce and made a food coloring mess. They acted as if they had better places to be, and were just generally rough. They were swearing and one of them even told us that he was on parole. It was a terrible experience that took way longer than it had to. What was frustrating is that we had just used this same moving company in February and they were excellent. I’m not sure if they just sent us the B-squad or what, but damn. Terrible experience.
It’s also weird because I’ve never been sad to move out of anywhere - I’ve always been happy. While there is plenty of silver lining about our new place (it feels more ‘homey’, more cozy, has a fitness room, brand new, better appliances, bigger, two bedrooms, etc.) it still doesn’t have that “fucking rad” feeling. When we walked into our loft the first time, we were struck by how awesome it was. We had even signed a rental agreement on a house but we backed out of it for that place. It was 100% apparent when we stepped through the door that it was THE ONE. We do really like this DECA apartment, but we are both in agreement that it doesn’t have that unique urban feeling that our loft had. It’s hands down the NICEST place I have ever lived in (who would have thought we’d be living here….wow) and I feel like a spoiled brat complaining about it.
I’m not actually complaining. It’s a great space with tons of potential. I know that I’m just going to have to really do some good interior decorating to make it funky, modern, and urban feeling. We have a hodgepodge of furniture and nothing really screams that contemporary style that I love. It’s also going to be a challenge because of the neutral walls and carpeting. Oh well, I do love challenges. :)
Anyway, it feels good to be unpacked and settled. The dog is still frantic and we’re not 100% set up yet (still need to hook up the surround sound and 360 and stuff) but it’s comfortable and relaxing. Having a fully enclosed courtyard is awesome for Bella, and will be great for getting an additional dog as well.
The diet starts back up again hardcore tomorrow. Looking forward to hitting the new fitness room here. :)
